I lost contact with a very close friend in the early 2000s.

It was (I believe) because of the exceedingly common and banal cause: device attrition. People using #Facebook wrongly assume that they don't need to keep their friends updated with new contact details, and before you know it, their cell phone number and email address don't work any more.

My contact details from that time still work today, if he tried to use them to contact me. I can only assume he's lost those along with whatever device held the only copy.

His name is Alex Webb, and he'd be roughly fifty years old now.

Multiple times a year, I want to talk to that friend. I have no reason to believe they *can't* be contacted, but they don't show up on an internet search, and I don't know if I'll ever find them again.

Social network platforms could be good, but too often are at the root of tearing us apart instead. I hate what the billionaires have done to our social fabric.

OMG. Il y a un développement sur Facebook suite au post vénèr concernant le tag "FREE PALESTINE" découvert sur un transformateur de notre bled.

On sent que l’équipe municipale, dont des adjoints administrent le groupe Facebook officieux de la municipalité, commence à être un peu en panique à l’approche des élections. Suite à l’échange capturé ci-dessous, le post anti tag "FREE PALESTINE" a été supprimé.

Je ne suis pas sur Facebook. Rapport au fait que c’est un peu le rendez-vous des connards, qui ont la fâcheuse tendance à s’y regrouper pour y exalter l’égoïsme et la bêtise (il paraît même que c’est pour ça que ça marche, les réseaux sociaux commerciaux).

Bref, ma meuf, qui n’a toujours pas réussi à fermer son compte et fréquente encore les groupes à la noix du genre "Tu sais que tu vis à Gonflincour quand…" et autres "Chichigneux, j’y vis, je l’aime". Et donc, sur le groupe officieux consacré à notre bled (dont les administrat⋅eur⋅rice⋅s sont des adjoint⋅e⋅s à la mairie) un gugusse a posté ça il y a quelques minutes, je trouve que ça illustre assez bien l’état d’esprit d’une bonne partie des gros relous qui peuplent en masse nos environs:

Wanted to buy some concert tickets, and went through #Facebook despite it being over a year since I used the app. Forgot to switch my VPN to somewhere local, and FB thought I was a foreign 'hacker' or something, thusly locking my account.

Now it keeps emailing me to unlock it, claiming "no-one can log in or view your profile" until I do so.

Well, shit, that sounds just peachy to me! Even better than the arduous task of trying to delete my account.
