A few self-hosters have laughed about the Azure and AWS outages. I think a few of them are now dealing with some outages for tools because #Docker 29.0.0 increased the minimum API version from 1.24 to 1.44, which caused some tools like #Traefik to fail. Their GitHub issue page got quickly flooded with issues. The good thing, people also shared workarounds to get them quickly back on track. I felt sorry for the stress they got in the last days. The Traefik maintainers managed to fix it pretty quickly and shipped 3.6.1, and all is good again.

The question would be, why haven't they seen that one coming? Wasn't it clearly communicated from #Docker, or haven't paid #Traefik maintainers paid enough attention?

The fall-out of that change is quite interesting. It will affect a lot of dependencies like #testcontainers, which have shipped 2.0.2, being compatible with Docker 29.0.0. Seems like some maintainers have some work to do, wish them well.

⚠️ Dangerous runC flaws could allow hackers to escape Docker containers

「 runC is a universal container runtime and the OCI reference implementation for running containers. It is responsible for low-level operations such as creating the container process, setting up namespaces, mounts, and cgroups that higher-level tools, like Docker and Kubernetes, can call 」

I just updated my python Dash application that is running on Gunicorn in a Docker container after I noticed some errors in the Docker logs. I spent a few hours linting one of the primary files and cleaning up some issues.

It turns out the error I was originally seeing was causing the app to be very slow to load. Now the Dash app loads very quickly in the browser!

After a very interesting (German) toot about a CO₂ sensor I also purchased such a sensor (TFA Dostman AIRCO₂NTROL MINI) and of course my goal was to have it as sensor within Home Assistant. Luckily, there already is a project to collect the sensor data via MQTT, called CO2MqttSensor. Unfortunately at first, while it’s possible to get it running via shell in TrueNAS, it is not recommended, since it would require to install a system service to stay running. But there is a solution via a Docker app!
