This may be a bit of hyperbole, but Komodo is amazing. I’m migrating away from Portainer as quickly as possible.

Cloud computing does not mean write Lambdas for everything, and everything must be serverless. One can really phone it in by converting their app to a Lambda, or simply migrate a Docker image and put it in front of an Application Load Balancer.

this wouldn’t be any problem if people used #docker, but still, so many poor souls out there still refuse to use this amazing piece of software 😞
and still some trolls run around trying to spread the false news, how challenging it is 🙄 🤦‍♂️

Make that 3 issues with #Docker recently with the #DockerCompose 5.x update breaking more things, some of which have a workaround and some like github.com/docker/compose/issu that don't. 😒 I should probably switch to the distro-provided Docker packages since those get frequent upgrades via the SRU process, with probably a lot more care taken and testing done to not break things.

OK, this is fun, I have a #raspberrypi 4 in my living room for running a Jellyfin client. I learned I can build arm containers on it by installing #docker on the pi and then running docker -H ssh://living-room COMMAND. Way easier than ssl configuration!

Got my Dockerized Flask app working! Using Docker swarm to initiate secrets and then a service to run it all. Still need to figure out the versioning of built images that then need to be pulled by the production server through a Gitlab Runner. 🏃 #selfhosting #Docker #flask #deployment

I did a min. setup for latest Minecraft on a Celeron i3 4GB. Raw X11 from tty. First I tried Alpine but glibc was needed, a Docker container Void Linux based worked; but just Void is efficent than Alpine + Docker. So I realized "Archons" (Distros based ON-ARCH, ARCH-ON. That's is from Genshin Impact btw) are updated, then I switched to Artix. Void was just a single day in the partition.

quicktipp #108: Creating an empty Docker container image and running it by bind-mounting essential paths from the host to the container.

Inspired as an alternative solution to Advent of Sysadmin, DAY 5 to get privileged access to the host root filesystem as an unprivileged user on an airgapped machine.

This was a very enlightening read. What’s even more amazing is that I actually understood a large portion of it.
