I actually love the idea of people using Large Language Models for creative writing they intend to publish. Because due to the basics of how the technology works, it's utterly incapable of sublety. It's hilarious.
If you ask it to come up with a bunch of names for the main character in a serious, grounded sci-fi story where a bunch of German volunteers fighting in the Spanish Civil War by a freak accident come in possession of an FTL ship and end up being Star Trek-like ambassadors of humanity to the galactic community,...

either way, then the ChatGPT answers are, like... Germán Sternenmeer, Hermann von Warpfaktor and Heinrich Krieg.
It's hilarious. Any 12 years old could come up with actually proper names that aren't just parroting the themes you put in in the most on-the-nose way possible.
ChatGPT is especially bad with non-English themes because it really, really needs to shoehorn the location into things.
Ask it for German Steampunk town names. Just in these 10 seconds, off the top of my head I can come up with "Straglitz", "Oberkürten" or "Öttringen". Nonsense, but they sound plausible. ChatGPT ends up with the equivalent of Cogtown, Steelmaker City and Clockworkton.

In today's edition of #ChatGPT imagines a non-existent #curl feature, much to @badger 's dismay...
As passed along by my colleague who discovered this, the prompt included: "find a website that is actually hosted on physical infrastructure in Guam"
and ChatGPT suggested one on #Akamai but then suggested using the no-existent --no-cdn flag to skip straight to the origin. Please don't take this as a suggestion to implement such a feature. 🙂

Recently upgraded to ChatGPT 5.1 and Claude's new version, but honestly no improvement at all. Service is super unstable! Prices keep rising while user experience gets worse. Charging such high fees but systems downgrade anyway, wasting tokens and slower speeds. Did all these AI models catch a plague these days? Just capital closed-loop investments everywhere. Version numbers go up but the quality is basically idiotic.
