So the #AI #bubble is a bit wobbly. Recent headlines include, but are not limited to:
1. The huge circular deal #OpenAI has with #nVidia is only a LOI. aka vapor paper.
2. #Google #Gemini is now better than #ChatGPT. And they use their own #TPUs, not nVidia's #GPUs.
3. Massive #lawsuit from creators over #copyright is going in the creators' favor so far.
4. The #microchip supply is drying up rapidly. Good luck finding #DRAM or #NAND next year.
5. We've basically run out of #electricity in the US #power #grids. It's literally impossible to build #infrastructure as fast as OpenAI thinks it can.

Never thought em dashes will make me question a student's first draft of a review but no thanks to #openAI and #chatgpt I had to leave comments about either adding a disclosure statement if the students used any #AI or #LLM, or to avoid using em dashes altogether 🫠 😭

Man, idk.
3 years of ChatGPT and GenAI, and it was really not net positive. Sure, I'm a little bit faster in my work, but for the expanse of the social contracts and people losing their jobs because money is diverted into AI investment.
Looking at the DRAM prices and the rest, the promise that stuff gets cheaper was also not fulfilled. Software quality just dropped even more, and there is no incentive for AI to build better things.
Just cheaper.
