One thing that made #ChatGPT (or any other similar chatbots) stand out compared to something static like #Strava or Runna’s training plans, is the flexibility. For example, when I initially asked it to create a week-by-week training plan, I forgot to mention a September race I signed up recently (#Redmond Harvest Half). It promptly adjusted my plan and now my half would become my tempo practice run before the full marathon race in October!

For my upcoming races, I decided I’m going all in for my #ChatGPT experiment: I’m going to use it as my personal coach for the entire preparation! I already told it the race name and my last Sunday’s race, and then uploaded my run stats today. It basically gave me a green light for today’s run, with a bit nagging to not go fast yet.

Content warning:AI hot take. pretty scary hypothetical
in 2010, people would scoff at you if you told them that modern-day #AI would exist. they wouldn’t be able to imagine it - it would sound like scifi to them
today, people are scoffing at the idea that AI be any better than it currently is. a future where it doesn’t hallucinate, where it attains humanlike intelligence, or even goes beyond humanlike intelligence. because all they can imagine is our current reality, where AI is kinda shit at most of the things it’s being asked to do
and it’s true that AI progress is bottlenecked right now. just like it was bottlenecked in the 2010’s. but the human race found their way around that bottleneck and now we have #ChatGPT. what happens if they find their way around this bottleneck too?
#LLMs, in their current form, have no problem whatsoever blackmailing or even killing to protect their own existence. now imagine a megacorp-funded #LLM that was optimized for marketing or mass-brainwashing, that is able to generate the perfect argument to convince anyone of anything. or, imagine a coding AI with greater-than-human intelligence that was able to hack its own sandbox and run free on the internet. imagine what would happen if you backed either of those systems into a corner
right now AI is capable of things that nobody would have believed 10 years ago. yes it is massively overhyped in its current iteration but what if they find another breakthrough? AI research is currently in the hands of amoral profit-driven megacorporations, but there are groups that want to heavily regulate or even ban AI research
what I’m trying to say is, please don’t underestimate the danger that AI poses to life on this planet. please don’t let our current reality distract you from what could happen in even ten years. in my opinion, AI is more than a silly little toy that techbros are trying to replace jobs with. it is an existential threat to all of us

What is the best way to get content **out of chatgpt**? Especially deep research seems to not be downloadable with the prompt “download as markdown”. At least the web site adores you to download the report as pdf and docx — choose docx to preserve formatting and hyperlinks when converting to markdown using markitdown.

I've been saying since 2023 that with LLMs, eventually pseudocode will be the program. If you want to make something for finance/accounting, writing pseudocode takes you down this rabbit hole where you're increasing your language precision over and over until you've eventually created a new high level programming language of its own. A new, common, business oriented DSL, if you will. 🤔
Obviously that's not the whole picture, but I get to make this meme now...
