Dr. Maya Ackerman, PhD., AI researcher and author of "Creative Machines: AI, Art, and Us," challenges our assumptions about artificial intelligence and creativity. The AI we use every day, the ChatGPT that millions rely on for everything from writing emails to generating ideas, is intentionally held back from being truly creative.
Let that sink in for a moment. ChatGPT, the tool millions use daily, is designed to be convergent rather than divergent. It's built to replace search engines, to give us "correct" answers, to be an all-knowing oracle. And that's exactly the problem.
