If you are coming here from #Bluesky, now is the time to pause and consider simply not being on social media at all. Throw your phone into the ocean. Go to a public library. It's too late for me, but for you, you gloriously untethered mote of light ... save yourself.
Or don't. Whatever. I hope you like pictures of dogs and byzantine conversations about self hosting.
Jetzt also #eurosky neben und föderiert mit #bluesky - ernsthaft? Hat da schon mal jemand (tm) technisch gegengetreten bis das von digitaler Pseudosouveränität beseelte Politiker:innen das mal so eben durchwinken?

6. Hashtags are VERY important! In the absence of an algorithm, hashtags help people to find their interests and mute the things that they do not want to read about. Couple good practices on my experience:
- Use hashtags for games like Rogule etc.
- Use hashtag in your initial post about some topic. No need to use it for the entire thread if you do not want to #bluesky
5. The usage of content warnings is fairly common, but there are few consensus on the how. It is generally understood that a content warning is required for spicy stuff or graphic violence. However, some people also use it of they talk about politics etc. Please understand that every community has their guidelines about this and, except for the two cases mentioned above, there is a myriad of postures about this topic. Do not fret too much and see what others do around here #bluesky
4. Unlike in #bluesky, here we ban fascists for sport. If you see any transphobic or abusive behavior, report to your instance moderators. In #Mastodon you can also block entire instances on your side if you feel the need to do so, although most of the admins do a lot of heavy lifting on their side
3. The good practices regarding ALT description of images that you may have seen in #Bluesky also apply here. If you do not have spoons to create the description, you can use the tag #alt4me and folks may create one for you 🫶
Many of the comments directed at people coming over from BlueSky confirm everything people already think about Mastodon. There certainly are things to criticise, but before doing that, please spend at least a little effort trying to get your facts straight.
2. We HAVE an edit button in Fedi 💜 #bluesky
1. Regarding instances etc, don't worry a lot about that for now if you are new. Get to know the general culture of the place before you move to specifics. Most servers adhere to the #Mastodon Server Covenant (we have cool names for stuff), so their rules are similar #bluesky https://joinmastodon.org/covenant
So are there any ex-#BlueSky users coming over to Fedi who are worth following?
welcome to all newcomers from #bluesky!
lots of people will give you advice here. it's for the most part good advice, but it *is* a bit intimidating.
sorry about that. we're mostly just trying to be helpful.
Was war denn jetzt schon wieder mit #BlueSky?
