This is why people clamour for a centralized network. Thats why people joined #bluesky because in the past there were apps that let you talk to anyone. In 2009, on World of Warcraft, I could talk to people all over the world.
Even on sacred fedi, hard as I may try, I cannot claim its as good at building community as 2009 WoW. And #fedi is a good community tool and it has had a good impact on my life.
But a long time ago I learned a trick. Lets say I learned it in sociology school. You look around the room and ask, who isn't here? Who isn't being heard?
And I know that problem can be solved. But I have never seen it solved by writing code.

Intelligent ppl of Mastodon, pls help. Im just on Bsky and seeing 'Jay' (mini-oligarch owner) being trashed for some crimes of moderation/non moderation/non-federation etc / nazi sympathiser... What happened? I did hear a tiny bit about an issue with a Blacksky acct, but I know nothing about any of it.

The GoToSocial post import tool, slurp, now supports BlueSky post and media imports, backdated and all. I even used a custom PDS.
I'll do a write up at some point.
The most suprising thing, which probably should not have been a surprise - all your BlueSKy posts and media are completely public, and you can grab ANYONE's collection of posts and media if you want....no auth required.

When you log into #Bluesky, it emails a security code you need to enter.
Here's a recent code I was sent: FPTQS-MPJJG
This is dumb.
6-digit codes are the gold standard for two critical reasons: (1) the range of a million possible codes is more than enough for adequate security; (2) most people can briefly memorize a 6-digit code almost instantaneously for long enough to enter it into another app.
10-letter codes are harder to use and add no appreciable security.

I don't trust Bluesky but come on, fedi. If ppl choose to be there, if they feel safer or more comfy or more heard there, then that's okay.
It's not abt what you think or what you think they need to do. And tbh if they're telling you that the fedi treated them poorly, maybe like... listen. The fedi has a prob moderating, with racism, with abusive mods, with bigots. That's def true. Stop invalidating those experiences.
Or you know, act like a know it all reply guy and 'but aktchally' IG.
