Apparently there's an exodus of Bluesky users again? I wouldn't know, I never saw it on Wafrn or here. Apparently some are ending up on fedi.
I've full-timed fedi since around 2022, Bluesky since mid-2023, and IMO they both inherit basically all the same behavioural problems as big tech social platforms. All of the toxic behaviours I've seen from Twitter, such as the confrontational behaviour, the "dunking", etc. ended up on both fedi and Bluesky - that had never changed. It's certainly a social media thing in general. Yet both fedi and Bluesky love to claim they're better, typically against the other party rather than at X or Facebook or whatever. (I love infighting in the free and open source software community! it fucking sucks!)
At this point I'm not on Wafrn because of my protocol preference (it's AT Protocol btw. AT has its flaws, but ActivityPub just feels like a worse remake of email) - I think I'm well over that now. I'm on it because despite its jank, it's more fun.

Most people in my Fediverse bubble disagree with me, but…
I’m actually happy about it, especially when it’s not someone I specifically asked to activate the bridge.
I wish everyone would do it.
I wish we all would.
Anything that gets the #bluesky dimension, stops being about ideology and just becomes mainstream.
And in the mainstream there are millions of brilliant people.
It’s a mixed feeling of
- better than nothing
- it’s just another giant, bizarre instance,
- I don’t care what "instance" people use, it's a matter of tastes eventually
- the absolute worst thing is when people flee Twitter to places I can’t reach at all, like Instagram!
