I’ve recently noticed a steady wave of people straight-up ditching Bluesky and crawling back to x.com, and honestly, a big chunk of this shitstorm is being fueled by some of the most unhinged Reddit posts I’ve seen in a while. Redditors are doing what they do best: blowing things out of proportion, spreading bullshit, doomposting nonstop, and acting like they’re experts on platforms they barely understand. These posts get shared everywhere, and suddenly everyone’s panic-posting like Bluesky is on fire.
Personal note: I’m still banned as fuck on Reddit and completely locked out of my account. Can’t log in, can’t appeal, can’t do shit. Even my oldest Lemmy account got nuked off the platform. So I’m watching all of this chaos from the sidelines while the same dumbasses who scream about “free speech” keep mass-reporting and dogpiling people off platforms.Bluesky has now officially started bleeding users, and honestly? It’s not surprising. The platform completely dropped the ball when it came to U.S. political spam bots. These bots are everywhere, pushing the same recycled political garbage, and somehow some of them are even getting fucking verified. That alone kills any trust in the system. When users see spam bots with checkmarks while real people get ignored or flagged, it screams incompetence. So yeah, people are deleting their Bluesky accounts and dragging themselves back to x.com, even though everyone hates that hellsite too.
Misinformation on Bluesky has also gotten completely out of control. After the infamous AI labeler “AImod” got disabled for safety reasons, things went downhill fast as hell. Was AImod perfect? No. Was it flawed? Absolutely. But removing it without a solid replacement was dumb as fuck. Now misleading posts, fake screenshots, context-less bullshit, and outright lies spread freely with barely any resistance. The timeline feels like a rumor mill on steroids.
And let’s talk about content creators, because that’s another massive problem. Bluesky has basically no real creator ecosystem. Outside of VTubers who are carrying the platform on their backs there are almost no major creators actively using Bluesky or engaging with the community. Most creators either cross-post once in a blue moon or abandon the platform entirely after realizing there’s no growth, no engagement, and no fucking point. Without creators, the platform feels empty, repetitive, and stuck in the same boring discourse loops every single day.
The official Bluesky subreddit is a whole different mess. More and more people are openly talking about a “mass exodus” back to x.com. Nothing’s confirmed yet, but the fact that people are even seriously considering it says a lot. The subreddit itself is full of complaints, doomposting, sarcasm, and shitposting. Mods keep deleting posts, which just pisses people off even more and leads to accusations of censorship and damage control. It’s a vicious cycle of bullshit.
At this point, Bluesky feels like a platform that had huge potential but is actively fucking itself over. Bad moderation decisions, unchecked misinformation, political spam bots, lack of real creators, and growing distrust from users are all piling up. Unless Bluesky gets its shit together soon, more people are going to keep jumping ship not because x.com is better, but because at least everyone already knows how shitty x.com is.

#bluesky has the decentralized social media movement somewhat frozen because their approach is built on VC funding. they've built something that may be decentralized enough, but feels centralized. that makes it easy to grow, so they dominate the space. but they are doing it using money they will have to pay back many times. we'll only know how their design works in the long-term once we see how they choose to sustain themselves, and how users deal with those imposed costs.
