Finally, Blacksky will have its own ATProto appview soon, meaning that the ecosystem powering BlueSky will be a bit more decentralized.

Just in case someone is not up-to-date with the latest Bluesky scandal, they have just suspended the account of UNITED24
Yes! That UNITED24. Used to be available under the username @u24.gov.ua
So it seems like the pseudo-decentralized alternative to Xitter is at it again. I wonder what the solution would be to this. Maybe something called F... Fe... Fediverse? Something like that?
Can't post it to the Fediverse community on Lemmy World, so I'm tagging @ukraine on this matter instead. Hello!

#Bluesky has suspended Ukraine's United24 government charity account (not the Media one) without any accountability.

Pelo que eu vi numa postagem do Dev do Blacksky para ter uma instância totalmente independente do Bluesky ele vai ter que fazer um fork de toda timeline.

Migrate Medi-Nerd to a new host – COMPLETE!!!
I did not expect it to be this easy, but Liquid Web support is next level.https://medi-nerd.com/2026/01/18/migrate-medi-nerd-to-a-new-host-complete/

Mark Carney is #Bluesky’s favorite politician and it’s easy to see why:
* logged a bunch of years at Goldman Sachs helping to stoke the 2007-2008 crisis
* central banker during said crisis, which makes him a hero to a certain type of economist-blogger
* governor of Bank of England under some of the worst governments in the UK’s history
* loves autocratic regimes
* lip service to climate change
Not The Time To Be Posting Manifestos on BlueSky
I just saw someone continue to post their insane manifestos on Bluesky: Considering this: https://social.growyourown.services/@FediTips/115907813290485171 I would say this is not the time to be posting anarchists' manifestos on Bluesky Fediverse Reactionshttps://cobalt-blue-gear-wyrm.x10.network/archives/14869
The only hot take I have about people coming here from #Bluesky is that you get more out of Mastodon if you're willing to commit to the bit, as it were.
If you say you're here but you haven't added Mastodon to the contact page of your website or carrd or linked-in or whatever then you're not really all-the-way here, and people won't know to come here to interact with you.
Content warning:BSKY meta commentary
Have to admit that I never envisioned Gargron snapping so hard and suddenly at ActivityPub outside the Fediverse. Almost as if they didn't want to extend the courtesy of providing thousands of followers notice and just burn the bridge immediately, because they were *that* pissed off.
I'm curious how many others will follow suit.
Husband is in LA until tomorrow, but I can envision him pointing at me and literally hear the words "...don't say it" escaping his mouth.
It took reasonable people way, way too long to leave Xitter, and the (very temporary) migration here only happened before BSKY truly established itself, so I'd be astounded if an en masse migration happens. That said, be polite and don't be an asshole about CWs, alt-text, and the choice of operating system for any new migrants, ffs. Be a resource.
Content warning:A general (shitty) comment on BlueSky
A few days ago I've seen something comparing ex-Twinnera to a privy, and praising #BlueSky.
My dear, don't you see the irony? The way I see it, you've just moved from one of Jack Dorsey's privies into another, after he let Elon and his friends shit in the middle of the floor to get some money from them. And now you're delighted, because obviously the same thing won't happen again.
You probably heard the news about the fascist identity #ICE having an officially verified account on #Bluesky. This American company is showing its ugly face again.
Some Todon.* users asked us if we are going to block the Bluesky bridge? We thought about this, but we think limiting is better for the time being. Let me explain:
Bridgy Fed (currently the only Bluesky bridge) is opt-in. That means that you explicitly have to allow a connection with this bridge (and therefore Bluesky). Without opting-in, your public posts will not arrive on Bluesky. Also if people from Bluesky enable the bridge on their site, they will not be able to see your account and your posts in their timeline. This in contrast to Threads that we suspended well in advance (after a community vote). At this moment there are a combined number of 64 users on Todon.eu and Todon.nl bridging their account with Bluesky (opting-in), having a total of 198 followers from Bluesky. Todon.eu/.nl users also follow added up 755 Bluesky users (you can also follow bridged Bluesky users without bridging your account).
To be continued in the next post.
