Awdah Hathaleen, militant palestinien bien-aimé, a été assassiné il y a deux jours par un colon israélien – mais ce n'est pas l'histoire d'un extrémiste fou ; c'est l'histoire d'un terrorisme de colons soutenu par l'État, qui fait partie intégrante du système de domination d'Israël en Cisjordanie occupée.

Après le meurtre de Hathaleen, son meurtrier présumé, Yinon Levi, un colon violent bien connu, est resté sur les lieux et a désigné des Palestiniens pour qu'ils soient arrêtés – tout en admettant qu'il était satisfait du meurtre.
Il a été arrêté plus tard, mais libéré et assigné à résidence peu après.

L'issue de ces cas horribles est toujours la même — les autorités israéliennes prennent le parti des colons, et les Palestiniens en deuil de leurs proches sont arrêtés, détenus et subissent encore plus de violence de la part des soldats et des colons.

La violence des colons aide directement la politique israélienne de suprématie juive et de vol de terres en tuant des Palestiniens, en détruisant les infrastructures palestiniennes et en déplaçant de force les communautés de leurs terres.

La condamnation ne suffit pas.
Les sanctions contre les colons et les organisations de colons ne suffisent pas.
La poursuite des colons individuels qui commettent des attaques ne suffit pas.
La seule façon d'arrêter cette machine de brutalité et de destruction est de l'attaquer à ses racines.

Cela signifie mettre fin à l'occupation.
Mettre fin à la construction et à l'expansion des colonies juives en Cisjordanie.

Beloved Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen was murdered two days ago by an Israeli settler – but this is not a story of one crazy extremist; it is a story of state-backed settler terrorism that is integral part of Israel’s system of domination in the occupied West Bank.

After Hathaleen’s murder his suspected killer, well-known violent settler Yinon Levi, remained on the scene and pointed out Palestinians for arrest – while admitting that he was happy about the murder.
He was later arrested, but released to house arrest shortly after.

The Israeli military has ordered residents to dismantle the mourning tent they had erected, and soldiers used tear gas and stun grenades to expel friends, activists, and journalists who came to visit

The military notified Hathaleen’s family that they will not release his body until they agree not to bury him inside the village – extending their existing total ban on Palestinian construction in the area to gravestones too.

Israeli authorities are sending Palestinians in Masafer Yatta a clear message – not only do they have no right to *live* on their lands – they have no right to a die with dignity either.

The outcome of these horrific cases is always the same — Israeli authorities take the side of the settlers, and the Palestinians grieving their loved ones are arrested, detained, and face even more violence at the hands of soldiers and settlers

These cases are not bugs in the system. Settler violence directly aids Israel’s policy of Jewish supremacy and land theft by killing Palestinians, destroying Palestinian infrastructure, and forcibly displacing communities from their lands.

Condemnation is not enough.
Sanctions of settlers and settler organizations are not enough.
Prosecution of individual settlers who carry out attacks is not enough.
The only way to stop this machine of brutality and destruction is to attack it at its roots

Ending the construction and expansion of Jewish settlements in the West Bank.
Ending Israel’s decades-long system of domination over Palestinians who are not afforded the most basic civil rights.

Old, steep steps at Preah Vihear
After the long stone layered access road from the mountain temple gate in the north, there is a steep step to enter the first temple building/Gopura.
As interesting as the building itself, is the construction and the decoration on the stairs.
The main steps are large and old stone fitted together like they were during building a thousand years ago. For every 3rd step, there is a sidestep suitable for a person or some decorative item.
This steep entrance step is only for the first temple building. After that, the rest of the 6 main buildings and support libraries are spread out on a relatively level ground. Stretching south to the steep cliff, were you find a fantastic view to the north of Cambodia.
Cambodian World Cultural Heritage
The name "Preah Vihear" comes from the Khmer words "Preah" (sacred) and "Vihear" (abode or shrine). The temple is also sometimes referred to as "Phnom Preah Vihear" (mountain of Preah Vihear).
The large temple complex was built during 250 years, starting over one thousand years ago. Several god kings of the Khmer Empire added to the buildings and site details.
It has been a Cambodian World Cultural Heritage site for nearly twenty years.
