There were rumors last year that the Verge was moving to Wordpress specifically so they could integrate directly w/ the Fediverse and AtProto. So if that's true I imagine yesterday's changes have a similar goal in mind (both are owned by Vox media)

I wish most Fedi sites allowed for PDF or ZIP files.

I appologise in advance to the small handful of ActivityPub subscribers

I’m retagging a bunch of my posts. You might get a whole load of edited notifications.

It will stop soon.

Why did Usenet fail?
#reddit #usenet #lemmy

Recently I've seen at attempts to ressurect & promote Usenet.

Here is what I think about it in 2025.
- Lack of web gateways.
- lack of web clients
- There are few web "archives" that are just filled with spam & flood from 2000's
- lack of high quality discussions, content
- no bridges with different protocols
- obsure, outdated architecture and design. in era of zeronet

And other reasons listed in article below, that's also why people won't use web forums that are not part of wider network (such as #lemmy #activitypub #fediverse etc )

activitypub is when there's one special activity selected every day and if you happen to do it in the course of the day everyone around you will stop and shout THAT'S ACTIVITYPUB

Ktistec v2.4.8 has many small fixes and improvements, but includes one significant fix to ActivityPub garbage collection, which was the major feature introduced in the last release.

⚠️ Important Note: Building with Crystal Language version 1.17.x is not supported due to two breaking changes. See:

(Maybe it's three changes—compile times are also far slower and executable sizes are much larger.)

There doesn't seem to be a blogging platform that really integrates with Mastodon so that I have a full Mastodon feature set AND my content on my own server, under my control.

I think the best way forward is to ignore the integration in and cross post here under this account. It's simpler, although responses won't end up on the blog.

WP and ghost are tools. inherent in their design is separation of the domain and the author as identities. Authors work for the domain, and therefore have a separate identity, and thus two accounts. This doesn't work for me.

So I've been trying out the 6.0 and so far it's not a game changer for me. Not to say it doesn't have value, but the specific features I'm looking for are not there yet. Really, integration on both and Ghost is more of a one-way door than integration. Until the readers support full functionality we're stuck in a two-account world.
