There's mention of 'respect for the protocol', but given the inherent flexibility of #ActivityPub we can say that the protocol is respectful of many interpretations. The respect @ploum asks for, boils down to current informal consensus for interoperability, which in turn is to large extent Mastodon's interpretation.
It is a pity that fedi is so app-centric, but each apps choices are valid. The protocol needs better grassroots standardization process.
#ActivityPub is a generalized protocol specification
#Mastodon is a specific implementation of the generalized protocol
In Mastodon distros >4.5.x it's possible for users to specify (and limit) the range of people/accounts that can quote their posts
See: Settings --> Preferences --> Posting defaults: "Who can quote"
And note: Mastodon, not Wordpress
Any idea what this means?
I don't see anything in the ActivityPub plugin to approve individual interactions, and it doesn't appear to be integrated with the regular Comments feature.

Bot accounts on #Mastodon should be able to be flagged as "do not cache".
Having to hit F5 to reload the page every 30 minutes like as if it was still the early 2000s or something to play @fediplayssnake
Case in point.

âIs Pixelfed sawing off the branch that the Fediverse is sitting on?â
Interesting article but I disagree with the premise:
The #ActivityPub protocol does not demand to display all messages.
Actually, it doesnât make any sense even.
When I use #Pixelfed, I do that to see pictures only. Thatâs the whole point.
If I want to see more, I have to use a more generic platform, like #Mastodon.

I just installed Mbin using Docker, and when I tried to join a remote community, it showed a 500 error code. I'm not sure why. When I try to install federated software, it is always problematic with federation. I had installed Lemmy using Docker, but the same issue occurred. Therefore, I uninstalled both of them and forgot about them. I don't enjoy having them installed, honestly.
