@ikuturso That’s a useful warning! Thanks for your research, I didn’t know this before. And this is exactly why and matter, as it is structurally federated and independent by design.

Thanks for sharing.

For anyone wondering why you're suddenly following me on social.beitmenotyou.online, here's the quick context.

I used to post as @beitmenotyou, but I've now moved over to my new main account: @beitmenotyou

Same person, new home. This lets me run things on my own instance and build a better experience over here. Thanks for sticking with me. 👊

Is extending #activitypub by adding new object types not included in it is a good way of doing things or not? That's the path I've chosen currently but I'm not so sure... For example when creating a spot that has some spot data I'm just using a new object type Spot instead of Note because I didn't feel like it fits the usecase. The Spot object includes frequency of the spot, the DX callsign, a human readable summary, etc. I don't feel like it should by design be compatible with Mastodon for example so it doesn't federate too far and spams innocent peeps' timelines. I'm thinking relays for spots and only spots so it stays separate from Mastodon. Is that a good way of thinking or should I consider something else?

@pfefferle I just noticed I'm seeing a second account from a #WordPress site using the #ActivityPub plugin - any idea what's happening here?

I'm federating only the blog, no authors, and I have no idea what "application" might be.

So what’s the ActivityPub version of Pinterest? Looks like it will be in demand soon.

RE: mastodon.social/@Mastodon/1158

"Threads, however, supports ActivityPub. Users on Threads can choose to share their posts with other Activity Pub servers, including Mastodon." – Well, only if the instance and/or end user decides so.

Surprised the article doesn't mention the absence of algorithm and advertising in the Fediverse. Imho it's a good selling point.
